Small Package, Big Punch Review
Don’t let its size fool you. The Perlisten Audio R12s Subwoofer may not look big and bad on the outside, but it will make itself known when you fire up a movie or song with serious low end. As far as small subs go, it blends into actual rooms nicely without you having to move half your furniture to fit it in.
That deep tonality is where this sub really shines. The 12-inch glass fiber driver produces plenty of air movement, but never loses control or composure. Bass sounds tight and deliberate, not muddy or clumsy.
Impressive, Manageable Punch
The thing you notice most about the Perlisten Audio R12s Subwoofer is its ability to play loud without losing its composure. Packing a 1.0kW RMS amplifier with permissive DSP to keep things tidy, even during the hardest hitting parts of a soundtrack, you’ll know the difference immediately. Everything is tight and controlled, never overstated or pushy.
Setup is intuitive too. You have options to adjust settings from the onboard touchscreen or through the mobile app and it doesn’t require a degree in rocket science to understand. When designing systems in our home theater design tool, we take the time to plan out room shape and speaker placement first. Then through Dreamedia+ we tweak crossover and EQ settings to allow the sub to blend seamlessly with the other speakers.
Flexibility You’ll Appreciate
Once you experience how well the Perlisten Audio R12s Subwoofer integrates into a system you’ll understand why we think it works in so many setups. Both balanced XLR and RCA inputs allow for quick connection to any receiver or processor, and the 10-band parametric EQ allows for detailed adjustment once it’s connected. It only takes minutes to get setup.
And once you go through that simple setup process, performance will impress you. Sure, it has a small footprint, but the bass seems to fill the entire room. Transitions are seamless and detail in the low end never seems to lose cohesion, no matter the volume level. Add in some capable speakers and proper calibration, and your whole system just sounds fuller.
