Description
Thermostatically Controlled Rear Panel with Active Cooling
Triple fans come standard inside this steel rear panel. The Salamander Designs Extended Rear Panel arrives in three sizes to fit into existing configurations. From a materials standpoint, black powder coated steel construction and 22 dBA noise floor are more than acceptable for even the dedicated home theater room during long listening sessions.
Overall, Salamander Designs constructed the Extended Rear Panel out of heavy-weight black powder-coated steel with thumb-nut fasteners included. As for internal dimensions, the addition of 3.5” of depth allows for plenty of extra clearance behind all installed components for bulky cables and connectors. The 40” wide model stands 22” wide by 37.75” tall by 3.5” deep and weighs 17 lbs.
Extra Depth, Fan System, and Cable Management
Inside each size option of Salamander Designs Extended Rear Panel ships as plain black or activated with the dual cooling fan system installed. Affixing the rear panel to any AV cabinet is as simple as lining it up and securing it with thumb- nuts for tool free installation or removal at a later date. Providing 3.5 inches of much needed depth behind every AV component helps clean up HDMI and audio cables.
Removable with thumb- nuts for quick access, the rear section of the Extended Rear Panel also opens up the back for easy connection to all cables and wires. Automatically controlled, the dual 120mm cooling fans kick in at 80 degrees and slow their rotation as the cabinet’s interior cools. Optional caster wheels mounted under the bottom of the cabinet allow for rolling the entire system around.
Ventilation, Accessories, and a Dreamedia System Build
Salamander Designs rates both 120mm cooling fans at 22 dBA so they will not interrupt your music when they do kick in. Even better, the thermostat controlling them will only power them on when they are needed to keep cabinet noise to a minimum. Pairing nicely with any media storage setup, Salamander Designs also offers a variety of cabinet accessories that complement the Extended Rear Panel.
In a well-planned custom home theater design, the Salamander Designs Extended Rear Panel resolves heat and cable management simultaneously. Dreamedia AV specialists can then match source components, receivers, and racks to build the full system around it.
