Description
A Low, Wide Base for a Large-Screen Setup
Your large display needs a sturdy stand to support its weight while concealing your equipment. The Salamander Designs Chicago 236 Audio Cabinet accomplishes both with its tempered glass top rated for 350 pounds. This audio-video cabinet easily supports large flat screens up to 75 inches in diagonal measurement while keeping your equipment hidden.
It also adds style to your home theater that you won’t find with many AV cabinets. The Chicago 236 features black oak veneer with a soft grass-textured finish. It comes standard with black tempered glass top and black texture-match feet. Salamander Designs also builds each cabinet by hand to order in their solar-powered facility in Connecticut.
Storage, Airflow and Sound Built Into One Cabinet
The Chicago 236 gains rigidity from its aluminum chassis and support posts. Customizable storage is built-in, as shelves can be infinitely adjusted vertically to suit your receivers, amplifiers and other components. Each adjustable shelf has a 75 pound capacity, so you can safely store heavier gear.
Ventilation louvers are also built-in to allow airflow to your media players and amplifiers during extended use. Cabinet construction also isolates your equipment from vibration. Hidden equipment can be stored behind a removable center grille used to hide a speaker. A sliding media drawer can store 111 CDs or 75 DVDs.
Installation, Cable Management and System Planning
The Salamander Designs Chicago 236 Audio Cabinet measures 64.75 inches wide, so be sure to measure your space before ordering. It’s also 21.5 inches tall and 21.25 inches deep, and it weighs in at 182 pounds. Integrated cable management allows you to organize and hide cables and wires from view. Should your floor be unlevel, hidden levelers can stabilize the cabinet.
You assemble the cabinet yourself, and soft-close door dampeners keep the doors quiet afterward. Over time, cabinet accessories let you add storage or surge protection and power conditioning as your system grows.
