When using an LED wall, you can’t place speakers directly behind the screen like in a traditional setup. But don’t worry, there are still great alternatives. A popular choice is the stereo setup.
This doesn’t include a dedicated center channel, but it uses something called Phantom stereo imaging. This technique creates a sound illusion, making it seem like the sound is coming from the middle, even though it’s just the left and right speakers doing the work.
It’s simple but surprisingly effective for general viewing.
Enhancing Dialogue with Dual Center Channels
If you have a home theater room and want to ensure crystal clear dialogue, there’s a neat trick you can try: using dual center channels. Place one speaker above the screen and one below.
This setup mimics the stereo imaging concept but focuses on making the center channel, which is crucial for clear dialogue in movies and TV shows, sound even better.
Innovative Solutions: Ceiling-Reflected Sound
Another fascinating option is using goni systems. This involves placing speakers that direct sound towards the ceiling.
The sound bounces off the ceiling and creates a cohesive left, right, and center soundstage that seems to come directly from the screen itself. You’ll need enough room overhead for this to work well, but it’s a cool and innovative solution!

Want to take your sound experience to the next level? Consider using a Trinnov processor with 3D remapping software. In my own home theater, I have a single center channel below my 16×9 screen, and the Trinnov system works wonders.
It creates the illusion that the audio is coming from higher up, making the overall experience more immersive and enjoyable.
