Why We Love Palladiom Wire-Free Shades

Palladiom shades are designed to be mounted without the need for bulky fascia boxes or custom trim. The brackets and hardware are all part of the aesthetic — sleek, modern, and refined. These are perfect for retrofit applications or high-end new builds where you want a clean finish.

Each shade comes with a battery tube for power — ranging from 4 to 12 D-cell batteries depending on the size. They’re easy to access and replace, with battery life averaging around 4 years, even longer in secondary homes or lower-use areas.

Bracket and Finish Options

Bracket installation can be configured in three main ways:

• On the wall or ceiling (standard mount)
• Inside the window jamb (for a recessed look)
• Outside window frame (on the header)

Lutron offers seven standard metal finishes — from matte white to glossy black and even brushed gold. These choices help match your brackets to door hardware, trim, or window frames. Because the hardware is visible, this is a key part of the design process.

Bottom Rail Styles

The bottom rail, or hembar, acts as a weight and design element. There are a few finish types:

• Standard exposed hembar (available in black or silver)

• Designer sealed hembar — fully wrapped with no visible edges

Inside the Shade Kit

When we bring shade kits to a consultation, you'll be able to see and feel:

• Full bracket assemblies in all standard finishes
• Various bottom rail styles
• Examples of sheer and blackout fabrics (fabric selection is usually handled in a separate kit)

These kits help you get a real sense of how the system will look and feel in your windows. And because everything is modular, you can mix and match finishes and fabrics to your liking.

Battery Access and Maintenance

One of the standout features is how easily the battery compartment can be accessed. Shades are mounted with a slight offset so that you don’t have to remove them entirely to change batteries. The battery tube can even bend slightly to allow for tight spaces.

Once batteries are replaced, the shade immediately reconnects with the system and resumes normal function. The setup checks in with the Lutron processor and adjusts automatically based on current state (up, down, etc.).
