JVC DLA-NX9
Key Features
- 4K Ultra HD home theater projector with 8K e-shift
- Native contrast: 100,000:1; dynamic contrast: 1,000,000:1
- Auto Tone Mapping and Frame Adapt automatically optimize HDR image quality
- Three 0.69″ D-ILA panels with Full Digital Cinema 4K resolution (4096 x 2160 pixels each)
JVC's proprietary 8K e-shift technology reproduces image quality beyond 4K. It works by shifting pixels diagonally by half a pixel, then combining the two images, quadrupling the picture resolution. Together with the three native 4K D-ILA imaging panels, the DLA-NX9 is able to put over 35 million pixels on the screen.
The DLA-NX9 shares much of the technology and features found in JVC's lower-priced DLA-NX7, including its video processing and input options. But it also offers some serious upgrades beyond the 8K e-shift capability. Most importantly, it has a much more advanced 100mm lens that is 35% larger than the lens in the DLA-NX7, providing a substantial boost in image sharpness, brightness, and contrast.
- Superior contrast: JVC's D-ILA projectors are known for their excellent native contrast ratio thanks to the layered imaging chips they use as part of their LCoS — Liquid Crystal on Silicon — system. Three D-ILA chips — one each for red, green, and blue — are specially designed to reduce light scattering to deliver impressive contrast.
- Higher resolution, customized HDR: Compared to HD, 4K not only offers much higher resolution, it also adds HDR, which expands the overall picture contrast range with deeper blacks and brighter highlights. The DLA-NX9 supports the HDR10 and HLG formats and automatically switches to the correct picture mode when it detects the HDR signal. It also includes special tone-mapping capabilities that ensure superior results with HDR-enhanced content.
- Exceptional sharpness and edge-to-edge focus: Another standout feature of the DLA-NX9 is its lens. JVC developed a 100mm 18-element all-glass lens that provides exceptional sharpness and edge-to-edge focus. The motorized lens offers powered zoom, focus, and lens shift, ensuring pinpoint sizing and control of the image from the comfort of your viewing spot.
- Built-in controls for picture quality: DLA-NX9 has an array of built-in controls to let you fine-tune every aspect of picture quality. There are five preset picture modes — Natural, Cinema, HDR10, HLG, and Film — plus six customizable user modes to create and store your own.
